Objective To know the pathogenic bacteria distribution and drug susceptibility variation in the burns ward after the relocation. Methods Bacterial strains separated from all kinds of inspected samples and drug sensitive results were analyzed statistically since the removal of the burns ward in June 2010,including the time periods of June 2010-June 2012 and of June 2012-June 2013.Then a comparison was made with epidemiological results of bacteria involved in the patients hospitalized from August 2003 to July 2006 before the ward removal. Results From June 2010-June 2012,the detection ratio of staphylococcus aureus was the highest, followed by pseudomonas aeruginosa and acinetobacter baumannii; from June 2012-June 2013,acinetobacter baumannii was the most, followed by pseudomonas aeruginosa and staphylococcus aureus. In addition, the drug resistance of pseudomonas aeruginosa, acinetobacter baumannii and escherichia coli against antibiotics like imipenem and ceftazidime had been significantly enhanced. Conclusions There is a gradual growth of MDR gram-negative bacilli in burns units each year, while the presence of staphylococcus aureus is increased in the first two years after the removal of burns ward.Significant variation of pathogen spectrum may be associated with the environmental changes and equipment renewal after the ward removal.
