Abstract:Objective To summarize the application of computer-aided preoperative design in treatment of the victims subjected to severe multiple fractures after Lushan earthquake. Methods Forty-six cases of severe multiple fractures admitted in 2 weeks following the earthquake had three-dimensional CT reconstruction. CT raw data were taken to have computer-aided design prior to operation. Radiological examination was performed after operation and was compared with the preoperative protocol. Results According to Matta standard, rate of patient satisfaction to fracture reduction was 95%. Coincidence of operative outcome with preoperative protocol reached 100%. Mean operation time and intraoperative blood loss were decreased dramatically. Conclusion Computer-aided preoperative design helps the operators and assistants understand the diagnosis and displacement direction of fractures, shortens operation time, improves operative outcome and hence is worthy of wide use.
